CHP

Combined Heat and Power

Most facilities pay twice for energy they could generate once.

CHP systems produce electricity and capture the heat that would otherwise be wasted — putting both to work in a single, fuel-efficient process. The result is lower energy costs, reduced grid dependence, and a system that keeps running when utility power doesn't.

E-Finity has been engineering and operating CHP installations since 1990. It's one of the core disciplines that built our 600+ asset portfolio.

How CHP Works for Your Facility

A CHP system generates electricity onsite using a reciprocating engine or combustion turbine. The heat produced in that process — instead of being vented — is recovered and used for space heating, process heat, hot water, or cooling through an absorption chiller. Depending on the application, a well-designed CHP system can achieve total system efficiencies of 70–90%, compared to roughly 30–35% for grid-delivered power alone.

The economics are straightforward: you're buying less from the utility, getting more from every unit of fuel, and operating a system that runs independent of grid conditions.

What E-Finity Delivers

System Design & Engineering Every CHP installation starts with a detailed load analysis — electric demand, thermal load profile, fuel availability, and site constraints. We size and configure the system to match your actual operating profile, not a generic template.

Equipment & Procurement We work with leading CHP platforms including Jenbacher, MTU, and Bergen — selecting the right engine technology for your fuel type, output requirements, and site conditions.

Turnkey EPC Delivery E-Finity manages the full project — engineering, procurement, permitting, construction, and commissioning. One point of accountability from design through startup.

Operations & Maintenance Our O&M teams actively manage CHP systems across our portfolio. Clients who want long-term performance assurance can transition directly from project completion into a managed service agreement.

Who It's Right For

CHP performs best in facilities with high, consistent thermal and electric loads — and where grid reliability or cost is a concern. E-Finity's CHP clients include:

  • Industrial manufacturers with continuous process heat requirements
  • Data centers seeking onsite generation with waste heat recovery
  • Hospitals and healthcare campuses with 24/7 power and thermal demand
  • Universities and large campuses running central plant infrastructure
  • Oil & gas facilities with available fuel and remote siting challenges

The E-Finity Advantage

We've been doing this long enough to know that CHP projects fail when the load analysis is wrong, the equipment is mismatched, or nobody's watching the system after it starts. Our integrated EPC and O&M model addresses all three. We design it right, build it right, and stay involved as long as you need us.

600+ assets under management. 35+ years of onsite power experience. The depth to handle complex, high-stakes installations.
